Evaluations by three participants at Felip Caudet’s course
Felip Caudet specialises in Japanese moxibustion, having studied Fukaya Style with moxibustion masters Tetsuya Fukushima and Hideo Shinma (son of Master Fukaya) for many years. Currently, Felip – based in Spain – is the world reference in the Style and the fourth recognised lineage teacher of Fukaya moxibustion because of his developments and contributions to the Style. In conjunction with the Association of Acupuncture Clinicians (ACC), Felip delivered his advanced moxibustion training course, spanning nine days over three months in London during September, October and November 2023.
This advanced course is unique because it is based in the traditional concepts of Japanese moxibustion. For the participants, it was truly immersive in that they learned how the moxibustion practitioner approaches a patient and how to think like a moxibustion practitioner. The course provided an understanding of moxibustion physiology and the Japanese application of the basic techniques leading to one of the most valued and powerful moxibustion styles: the Fukaya Style.
Three of the participants share their thoughts their learning from Felip’s course.
Mine Kaylan:
Felip Caudet’s intensively packed advanced moxibustion course in autumn 2023 was much more than it promised. A highly skilled teacher with engaging – often innovative – material, and lively exchange in a stimulating community of interesting colleagues makes for the best learning. Felip’s awe-inspiring moxibustion practice, his deep knowledge of its theory and history was clearly and methodically shared with us. There was always room for interaction, questions, practical demonstrations and our own trial and errors in class – and plenty of laughter. Fine and funny pedagogy in the context of generous and efficient organisation by the AAC made for a memorable learning environment. Most importantly, I understood that moxibustion is magic!
Bradley Carr:
For many years I have had an interest in moxa and moxibustion but I don’t feel I was ever properly given the structure or skills to implement this into my acupuncture treatments. The course with Felip Caudet has been a revelation. Introducing the correct palpation techniques, the theory, what a moxa point feels like, how it will change after treatment and how it affects the flow of Qi and blood in any part of the body. I feel I now see my patients and their symptoms in a very different way that is more practical and tangible, and I am getting much better, more reliable results than I was previously. This feels like the course we all should have had at college but was never taught.
Truss Jansen:
The advanced moxibustion skills course by Felip Caudet, is divided over three months, each session lasting three days. This means that we had enough time in between to practise our skills, hone our cone rolling skills and try treatments on ourselves and our clients. And that was what made this course so invaluable because, from the first session, we all realised that our moxa cone rolling skills were nowhere near a level we were taught in our respective educational settings and we had entered an advanced stage that needs time to practise and relearn. I would highly recommend this advanced moxibustion skills course to anybody who loves to explore and use this phenomenal plant in their practise.
