Benefits of AAC membership

The AAC is a community of dedicated acupuncturists, just like you, committed to advancing our profession and supporting one another. Our key differentiator is that we are run by acupuncturists, for acupuncturists. We understand the unique needs and challenges that you face in your practice, and we are here to address them promptly.

We represent Traditional acupuncture practitioners who have either a degree level qualification in Acupuncture and/or a Licentiate in Acupuncture (Lic.Ac). These superior standards of qualifications combined with our robust Codes of Professional Conduct and Safe Clinical Practice transfer to high quality innovative patient care. Acupuncturists within AAC benefit from:

  • Being part of a community with mentoring, support and advice
  • Having access to a contract-free sharps disposal service
  • We make change happen – during the pandemic, we enabled formal recognition as healthcare practitioners for our members
  • We offer speed, agility and commitment to our members
  • We aim to empower our members with the knowledge to be confident in their Acupuncture  business

The AAC aims:

  • Respect from the Healthcare Industry for our Practitioners
  • Recognition for our skills sets

Acupuncture is a well-researched holistic medicine with low risks

  • In the UK, acupuncture practice is not statutorily regulated due to its safety profile.
  • Management of acupuncturists is done voluntarily through organizations like the AAC.
  • The AAC works under the Acupuncture Regulatory Authority to ensure high professional standards and safe practice for acupuncturists.
  • The AAC maintains a register of practitioners who meet the Authority’s standards.
  • The AAC welcomes qualified degree-level acupuncturists and offers them support through:
    • Refresher training to deepen clinical knowledge and skills
    • Training for clinical specializations
    • Up-to-date guidance on working with specific patient groups
  •  Whilst our professional body meets all the criteria of a voluntary accredited register such as the Public Standards Authority, this is purely voluntary and it is AAC’s belief that our high standards of practitioner support and protection of the public strategies provide a more robust and industry appropriate model.
