Before this session we will probably already have chatted on the phone or by email but I’ll still have lots of questions to ask you about your current symptoms and much more! This allows me to get to know you and to get to the root of things. You’ll also have your first treatment in this session. I suggest that you wear loose fitting clothing that will roll up to your knees or elbows or bring something to change into. Don’t worry if you forget, I have plenty of towels and blankets if you have to come straight from work, for example, and need to remove any tight fitting or easily crumpled clothing.

We usually have a chat to discuss how you felt after your previous session, what has improved, what has not changed yet etc. and then you will receive your acupuncture treatment. I generally advise that the first few sessions are not planned too far apart. This is because each session builds on the previous one and if there is too much of a gap then you are losing this cumulative effect. It’s a bit like going to the gym and then not going for another month – improvement will be difficult.

Before treatment your face will be thoroughly cleansed and then I use the GENOSYS NEEDLE PEN-K which is an automatic device for microneedling therapy. The pen increases the absorption rate of active ingredients of skin care products by creating physical pathways through skin. And it promotes collagen and elastin induction through natural wound healing process of skin. It uses 16 sterile needles to create microchannels in the surface of the skin which allows powerful skin rejuvenation products to penetrate the skin further while also stimulating the production of collagen. The Needle Pen-K can create over half a million microchannels during a 5-10 minute treatment, penetrating deeper through the epidermis. This encourages the absorption of the active ingredients used in the treatment making it far easier for them to pass through the upper layer to cells deeper in the skin than a simple surface application with no needling would. Your treatment finishes with a calming face mask and facial massage.

During this treatment you will receive your moxibustion treatment and, most importantly, be instructed on how to continue this treatment safely at home. You will receive your own “moxa stick” and clear instructions to take home with you.
