For Acupuncture Practitioners
Why AAC?
When AAC was originally created in June 2020 we chose the name – British Acupuncture Association. In November 2021 Acupuncture was raised on the Office of National Statistics into the same category as other Healthcare Professionals such as Osteopaths and Physiotherapists. After careful consideration and consultation with members, we chose a new company name – the Association of Acupuncture Clinicians as we felt this was a more accurate representation of our membership. We are now one of the stakeholder group organisations for the Acupuncture Regulatory Authority with set agreed policies and code of conducts which all organisations abide by.

“AAC have managed to do more for us in a matter of months than my previous governing body had done in years and has not only helped me to change my view of our profession, but will change the view of potential patients.“

AAC Affinity Insurance Scheme
AAC Affinity Insurance Scheme
The Association of Acupuncture Clinicians have partnered with Balens Specialist Insurance Brokers to provide our members with a bespoke Affinity Scheme Insurance Policy. This scheme specifically covers acupuncture and related therapies. We are now one of the only groups who can insure you for blood-letting as well as semi-permanent acupuncture needles such as ASP/ and press needles. This policy also includes automatic cover for many adjunct therapies such as cupping and Gua Sha.
When discussing your insurance cover with Balens, it is important that you inform them that you are part of the ARA Insurance Affinity Scheme. Being a member of AAC means you are also a member of ARA.
Thank you so much to the AAC and BAF for setting up the pay as you go clinical waste contract. I have saved over £100 and I can have my bin emptied when I need it and not when the contractor decides.
Frequently Asked Questions
The Association of Acupuncture Clinicians (AAC) is an innovative and leading force within acupuncture led by a team of highly motivated Acupuncture Clinicians who together have made huge changes in the industry.
Our members are highly qualified acupuncture clinicians with degree-level qualifications in traditional classical acupuncture. This means that when you choose to be treated by a member of AAC you can be assured that your health will be in safe hands.
We work to promote the benefits of acupuncture and aim to influence health care policy. We provide a variety of services to support our members and their practices.
In line with the recommendations of the House of Lords’ Complementary & Alternative Medicine Report in 2000, the British Acupuncture Federation (BAF) was formed from the wide range of acupuncture organisations in the original stakeholder group. It does not have individual members; it is where all acupuncture organisations can discuss how to promote acupuncture.
It reflects all styles of acupuncture, including both western and traditional techniques. BAF is the first and largest independent and collaborative umbrella organisation of leading professional acupuncture associations within the UK.
BAF has recently changed its name to the Acupuncture Regulatory Authority (ARA) and is looking forward to leading the way in Acupuncture promotion.
The Association of Acupuncture Clinicians is one of the key organisations under the umbrella of the Acupuncture Regulatory Authority (ARA). The AAC is represented on the ARA board. This allows AAC members to have a voice in discussions, to share ideas on acupuncture, and to help the AAC and ARA to promote acupuncture, add new member benefits and fight for members rights.
AAC membership does not automatically include insurance but does have a specifically designed and heavily discounted insurance scheme for those members requiring it. And although we have developed a fantastic scheme, some practitioners may have found other policies that are better suited to their needs.
