Who is AAC?
We have grown in membership by 450% in three years!
The Association of Acupuncture Clinicians (AAC), is a professional acupuncture association formed in 2020 by a group of practising Acupuncturists.
We wanted to create a new dynamic force within our industry to advance our profession, support the interests of acupuncture practitioners and to be recognised for the contribution that we make to the healthcare of our patients. We wanted to facilitate innovation, communication and connection.
Our primary task was to allow us to return to work during the first covid-19 lockdown in April 2020. Through lobbying, and determination we managed to fully return to work with the statutory groups in July 2020 and change the status of Acupuncture Practitioners. This meant that we were considered Primary healthcare workers and thus allowed to return to our clinics. We returned to work full practice whilst other acupuncture bodies were closed or restricted their members’ clinics.
In our first 3 years our membership has grown to 520 members which we think is a testament to the support we offer our members.

Why Choose AAC?
We pioneer
We are a not-for profit organisation. We do not sit and wait for things to happen, we make them happen. Our AAC members ask and we respond!
At each stage of Covid-19 restrictions we provided immediate guidelines (often same-day) according to new government regulations. These were distributed via email, video and on our website. Our members were routinely invited to zoom meetings where they could ask questions about the updated guidelines and how and where to purchase PPE and covid tests when their normal resources had failed.
We Collaborate
In just 3 years we have gained the approval of many private health insurers on our members behalf. We are listed on the Private Practice Register. We have created partnerships which actually save our members money whilst providing additional services. We are part of the British Acupuncture Federation umbrella making us proud members of a 1300 strong acupuncture profession. Together we collaborate to produce strict but inclusive codes of conduct and safe clinical practice, recognition for the different styles and skills sets and we use our combined strength to purchase high value services for our members at reduced prices.
We Support
We have a wealth of diverse resources to support your professional development goals, whether that’s maintaining your CPD, developing new skills and learning or supporting you in your clinic. Many of our resources are free and available online. For example, we offer a monthly mentoring and support hub, 1:1 support when you need it, a huge range of member benefits, corporate membership and discounted subscriptions to research organisations, discounted insurance, support in the event of an adverse event, cheaper access to card payment services, , regular zoom meetings, Facebook members forum plus so much more.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Association of Acupuncture Clinicians is one of the key organisations under the umbrella of the British Acupuncture Federation. The AAC is represented on the BAF board by Clare Ward, an executive member of the Association of Acupuncture Clinicians. This allows AAC members to have a voice in discussions, to share ideas on acupuncture, and to help the AAC and BAF to promote acupuncture, add new member benefits and fight for members rights.
A full list can be found on our Private Medical Insurance page.
AAC membership does not automatically include insurance but does have a specifically designed and heavily discounted insurance scheme for those members requiring it. And although we have developed a fantastic scheme, some practitioners may have found other policies that are better suited to their needs.
Joining the Association of Acupuncture Clinicians does not automatically give you insurance. Should you require insurance, you can use our AAC affinity scheme policy and access the discounts available for AAC members.
The following is from our insurance provider Balens regarding this policy:
“We can hold cover from the date we receive the completed application form [and] subject to suitable qualifications and favourable answers to the declaration questions. When it comes to contacting the client for payment and issuing documents, our standard turnaround time is 48 hours;
however, we may be slightly outside that due to the current situation with Covid-19.”
